The 1880 Census lists Martin, age 45, no occupation listed, living at home in Freedom, Cattaraugus County, NY with his wife Mary, age 44, and their two children, Myrta, age 10, and Milton, age 7.

The 1900 Census lists Martin, age 65, as a salesman in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County, NY. He is living at home with his wife Mary age 63 and their daughter Myrtie, age 29 and single, working as a schoolteacher. A state ward, Frieda Koster, age 15, also lives with the family.
