Coulter in some records. The Culters, (I don't know where they came from, but they

I have a Mystery! At least one...My father, Carl
Clyde Washburn, always refered to the Hopkins boys in Question here as "UNCLE".
Each and every one. Yet I can't come up with a tie. Each of these Boys grew to be
prominent in his life, yet I can find nothing on personal lives. i.e. wives maiden name,
where the tie could be.
The father, David J. Hopkins b. 1838 in Wales, and mother, Mary Jeffreys
b.1842, had the following 8 sons, all in Cleveland, Oh. or environs.
1) Jeffrey John b. 1858 Presbyterian Minister---built two churches in Norwood Oh. (Came to
Cleveland to marry my Gfather Carl Joseph and Gmother Edith Griffith)
2) Thomas Lewis b. 1860 Expert accountant, was Auditor of the
Philippines under Gov. Gen. Taft. and in later years Secretary of
several corporations controlled by his brothers.
3) Evan Harry b. 1865 A Harvard graduate Lawyer who founded and
taught at Western Reserve Law School and was Dean of the college for 17
years.
4) William Rowland b. 1869 A lawyer, business executive and 1st City
Manager of the city of Cleveland. Developed many metropolitan
facilities, including the airport (named for him) and the Stadium.
5) George Whitefield b. 1872 Doctor of Medicine, who, with his own
means, founded and developed the Hopkins Clinic in the city of
Cleveland.
6) Martin Luther b. 1874 Devoted his life to the steel industry,
occupying executive positions in companies finally merged to become
Republic Steel Corp.
7) Benjamin Franklin b. 1876 An engineer and manufactuer had a
leading part in development of a half dozen large enterprises of which
The Cleveland Graphite Bronze Co. ( Clevite Corp.) became the largest in
its field.
8) Arthur Melanchton b. 1878 Had a long and brilliant career in the
American
Theater as a writer, producer of great plays, and finder of theatrical
talent and writer of books of history of the theater.
Has anyone compiled information on these men?

I have a HOPKINS ancestor, but have been unable to trace his roots. In other
words, I only have info from his birth date, no parents names and the such.
He was James HOPKINS, born January 11,1834 in Ohio and died January 28,1904 in
Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma. He married Sarah Elizabeth Crier (Cryer?)
probably about 1860. I have no previous info on Sarah either. I do have the
complete file on all their descendants, however. Does this sound familiar to
anyone? Thanks, Donna
