Clerical Assignments

While some NEPA marriage licenses specify a church where a wedding occured, others have only the priest and city, leaving researchers to wonder where the church records might be found. Here are some NEPA priests and where they were stationed and/or lived at various times, compiled from various sources. This is not an exact science and many exceptions occured for many reasons. E.g., if a priest was a relative or friend, a wedding or funeral might have been held where the priest was stationed *or* he may have gone to the person's home parish. If a given church was unavailable for some reason, another church may have been utilized rather than a priest's "official" parish. Mission churches varied as to whether they had their own record books or used the parish books.
