Hygebed-Higbie-Higbee-Higby Reunions

In the 1920's and 1930's there were many reunions held by the "Long Island Higbies". Jerri Berkeley provided me with copies of the minutes from some of them, and I scanned them in and converted them to web documents. The links below will take you to them. I have kept the spelling, phrasing, etc as a part of history. There may also be some errors caused by missed problems in the conversion process on my part. I will correct them as I see them. The actual author of the minutes is not known to me. It would normally be the secretary. It also is not known how much editing may have been done.

  • There was also one report of a reunion of the "Western New York Higbys" at the Higby Camp near Big Moose, NY. I have looked at maps of the area and the Higby Camp is not listed. There is a Higby road which I think would have gone to the camp. I will provide link to the map in the future. Here is the report: Higby Camp and here is a link to a map of Big Moose Lake and Higby Road

I have searched the Episcopal Church's web site for a Christ Church on Long Island in the West Islip area. There is none listed. In the minutes that we have here, there is no record of the tablet actually being bought. With the death of Rev. Burlingham, my impression is that the tablet was abandoned.
