Deed Book 13, page 379 Patrick County Court - August 1849
Know all men by these presents, that we John Dehart and Paul W. Dehart are held and firmly bound unto Jeremiah Burnett, executor of Thomas Tennison decd, in the sum of Twenty five dollars, lawful money of Virginia, for the true payment whereof, we bind ourselves, jointly and severally, our joint and several heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these present. c & s witness our hands and seals this 25th day of August 1849. The condition of the above obligation is such, that as the said Jeremiah Burnett has paid the said John, Stephen and Paul W. Deharts the Twenty five dollars that was left to Jesse Dehart decd. by the Last Will and Testament of the said Tennison decd. the said John and Stephen Deharts having produced an order from the widow of the said Jesse Dehart, and all of the balance of the children that are living, and from the administrator as they alledged of one of the deceased children; Now if the said John Dehart and Paul W. Dehart shall pay the proper proportionate part of all debts or claims, that shall or may come against the estate of the said Tennison, and all claims that may come against the said Jeremiah Burnett or his representatives by any of the grandchildren of the said Jesse Dehart, and fully indemnify the said Burnett in all and every case whatsoever, in consequence of his having paid the said money, against all loss and damages; then this obligation to be null and void, and other it shall remain in full force.
