Felix Grundy Coats Family

Felix Grundy Coats 1828 - 1916	Leona Pearlee (Doggett) Coats 1841 -1893

This photo was taken in 1901.  The location is thought to be Felix's ranch in Contra Costa County, California.

Charles Coats (nephew of Felix Coats)

This man was originally identified as a hired hand.  Bethel Coats' journal indicates that his first cousin Charles was working on the ranch the year this photo was taken.  Given that he was a close relative, it would be natural to include him.  He also looks very similar to a photo of Charles.

Bethel Sims Coats or Charles Worth (man with hat)

The youngest member of the picture, Vivian,  wrote the names of the participants on the back of the photo, obviously some time after it was taken.  Vivian and her husband did extensive genealogy research.  She thought the gentleman was Charles Worth, the husband of Ella.  The second youngest in the picture, Doris thought that it was her father Bethel , son of Felix and Leona Coats.
