They quote from Marie Whitmore Greenfield, daughter of Gerry E. Whitmore (1870-1962) of Boneparte, IA.
From History of Henry County, in article about David Whitmore: son of John Whitmore, ... , and grandson of Jacob Whitmore, both natives of Pennsylvania, of which state his ancestors were pioneers. They were of German descent.
