Lyle Buchanan, 3946 Brown Rd., Durand, MI 48429-9783 and his first cousin, Ferne Whitmore Sepp, 400 Moraine Dr., Rantoul, IL 61866-1440 have done research together, and have provided most of the information about the Whitmores. They quote from Marie Whitmore Greenfield, daughter of Gerry E. Whitmore (1870-1962) of Boneparte, IA.

From History of Henry County, in article about David Whitmore: son of John Whitmore, ... , and grandson of Jacob Whitmore, both natives of Pennsylvania, of which state his ancestors were pioneers. They were of German descent.
