Tom worked for Detroit Edison. After he was disabled with arthritis, they gave him half pay for the rest of his life.

Spent years in Eloise, a Detroit institution. Later, he was part of an experimental program to rehabilitate him. They broke his joints and reset them so that he could get around with a walker. From then on, he got around remarkably.

Incapacipated by arthritis for most of his life. He spent many years institutionalized in Eloise, then participated in an experimental treatment which involved breaking his joints and reseting them.
