Ronald Edwin Sheward (1924 - 2006)

The Shewards came to North America in 1886 from Kidderminster, Worchester, England. Great grandfather Sheward, Edwin Sheward (1837-1905) traveled with his family to Philadelphia, where he and his sons worked as carpet weavers until an ecomonic downturn came about 1905. At this time, the family moved to Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to work in the carpet mill there.

The Briggs came to North America about 1910 from Scotland. Thomas Briggs (1865-1940) and his family were also carpet weavers, and worked in the carpet mill in Guelph.

So it was that Ronald Edwin Sheward's parents met, in the neighborhood near the mill: Edward Kitchen Sheward (1899-1959) and Margaret Briggs (1898-1991).
