The following wedding announcement, which appeared in a Davis County, IAnewspaper, "The Republican," was located by Ms. Goldizen (a Davis Co, IAresearcher) on behalf of Robert Spear, grandson of Lewis (Note: Lewiswas a widower at this time, having been 1st married to "Sarah Frances"):
"Married 26 July 1901, at the residence of M. Downing, this city[Bloomfield?], L. M. Russell of Bloomfield and Miss Nora M. Whitacre ofSchuyler County, Missouri. Mr. Russell is the son of Wm. Russell of WestGrove, is a 'rustler' from way back, is a fine cooking man, just in theprime of life, and is to be congratulated on being able to win the heartand hand of one of Missouri's fairest daughters, a lady of sterlingworth, and who is abundantly able to make home pleasant. Mr. and Mr. B.R. Whitacre were the subscribing whitnesses. Mr. and Mrs. Russell willmake their home in this city."
According to the research of Robert Spear:
Between 1910 and 1913, something happened to the marriage of Lewis &Nora. In 1913, Nora gave birth to twins by Charles Joseph in Omaha, MO.Nora and Charles Joseph had another son in 1921 and that same year (inAugust), Nora purchased a home in Centerville, IA. To date, there hasbeen no evidence uncovered which would indicate that Lewis & Noradivorced or that Nora & Charles Joseph married. Nora did, however, marryCharles Johnson of Centerville, in 1924 ( 5 years before her death). Thelast known record of Lewis Milton is that of the 1925 IA State Censuswhich places him in Lucas Co, IA (Washington Twp, a rural area SE ofRussell, IA). Interestingly, he is listed as a widower even though Norawas still quite alive and involved with Charles Joseph. The date & placeof Lewis' death is not currently known. Robert Spear reports that a"family tree" prepared by his Uncle Bruce B. Watts (husband of HelenRussell, daughter of Lewis and Nora) indicates that Lewis died in 1932,but supporting evidence has not been forthcoming nor did Mr. Wattsreference the place of death.
