Alfred Leurquin
& Virginia Vanam

Alfred J. Leurquin was born on the 12th day of November, 1858, in Temploux, Belgium.  The first son of Desire Leurquin and Cecilia Bournonville.

Virginia VANAM was born in 1860 in the town of Sugar Bush (Humboldt) Brown county Wisconsin, the daughter of Xavier Vanam and his wife Victoria.

In 1871 Alfred and his family left Belgium from the port of Antwerp and immigrated arriving in the port of Detroit aboard the vessel "Grand Prince" and settled in the town of Humboldt, Brown county, Wisconsin. His Letter of Intent and Petition for Naturalization were filed with the Brown county Clerk of Courts.

Alfred appears to have married Virginia Vanam in 1879 (This date is not backed up with any data at this time). If they were married in 1879, they seem to have had one child Alfred Jr. born out of wedlock on November 12th, 1878,  Xavier was the next son born November 6th, 1882, followed by Elvinia born January 24th, 1885 and Jennie born December 30th, 1887.  Their next child was Mary born April 26th, 1890, she was followed by Alphonse who was born on July 28th, 1893, and Victoria born February 5th, 1898.   Alfred and Virginia's last child William Joseph was born on June 13th, 1901. William married Barbara G. DIRING in1919 and this couple had 8 children.

The 1900 Census of the United States for the town of Eaton, Brown county, Wisconsin lists the family of Alfred Leurquin as follows:

Alfred died on January 28th, 1928.  Virginia died on May 20th, 1930.
