[2237] Leanna is another spelling for Lyonnais. Lyon-nais means from the Lyon region of Lyon, France. One family group sheet shows her as Nora Dometill Lyonnais. There seems to be some question as to the identity of Hugh's mother, that is, her name appears as Domitel, and as Sophia (and in one instance as Nora). Walter stated affirmatively that he recalls on many instances his grandfather calling his wife Sophia. On the death of John Van Laanen Sr on 2/26/1912 two of the local newspapers reported on March 6, 1912 the fact, etc, indicating his wife to be Sophia Leyonais. On the gravestone of John Van Laanen Sr she is listed as "WIFE": Domatil Lyonnais born 4/18/1842 Died 8/14/1907.

Birthplace Town of Scott Date of Birth April 18, 1842 Date of death Aug 14, 1907. Died at St Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Death certificate dated Aaug 15, 1907. Burial permit # 183. Lefebre Funeral.
[2239] Lawrence Van Laanen also stated that he was born in 1907 and he came to know that he was born the year his grandmother died. Vol. 11 page 92 of deaths.
[2240] Domitel Lyonnais was buried in Holy Cross Cemetary, Bay Settlement, the cause of death listed as cancer of stomach.
