[1515] On May 7th, 1869 Daniel Wesche married Fredericka Martin, who had just arrived from Prussia. Christian Martin, this 19 year old daughter, and a second wife, Elizabeth with their 4 small children had also gone to Pettisville to live. Christian lived less than a year, however, leaving Elizabeth and children in poverty. The children were taken into foster homes, Charles going to Ridgeville Corners to live with his sister Fredericka. Other children were Minnie whose daughter Anna Blair, lives in Wauseon; Dorothea, grandmother of Anna Nofsiger and Adam Britsch of Archbold. William later lived in Napolean and Charles went to Berne, Indiana.
[1516] Obituary of Carolina Fiederika Wesche - translated by Rev. Norman Sydow of Cincinnati, Ohio.
[1517] The dear deceased, whom we just recently carried to her last resting place, was once Carolina Friederika Wesche, born Martens, on the 21st of December in the year 1848, and first saw the light of this world in Ladingen(?), Germany. Soon after heer birth she received Holy Baptism. She was instructed in holy things in early youth. She knew her Savior and gave him love. In the year 1869 she came with her parents from Germany to America, and made home in Henry County, Ohio, where she remained until herr death. In the same year she entered holy matrimony with Mr. John Friederick Wesche, who now with deep sorrow followed her coffin to her last resting place. Their marriage was one blessed by the Lord. Their beloved God gave them fifteen children, seven sons and eight daughters, who in deep sorrow mourn the great loss of their beloved mother. Yes, the deceased was a faithful wife to her husband, standing by him through all. She was a loving mother to her children, who did not neglect her children, but brought them up in the fear of the Lord. To serve the Highehst she was always heartily ready; she was friendly and helpful to all. Throughout her life she enjoyed good health and well-being. Twenty-four hours before her death she was still about and busy. Then suddenly on Saturday evening, Feb 3 1894, she was thrown by a serious illness upon the sickbed, after she had not been feeling well the whole day. (next sentence, probably: Her loved ones could not do much for her, for soon after the sickness took hold of her she lay speechless and ?). Her last words were a joyous entrustment of herself to God, at the same time encouraging her own likewise to set their trust on God, he would not forsake them. God the beloved did also not forsake her. Gently and quietly around 5:00 o'clock on Feb 4th 1894, she departed this life and, as we firmly believe, entered into the joy of the Lord. Her age was 45 years, one month, 14 days. She leaves her deeply sorrowing husband, 7 sons, and 8 daughters, and otherwise many relatives and friends. On February 7th she was carried to the cemetery of St. John's Church in Ridgeville township, Henry County, Ohio, to her last resting place. Pastor Friederic Reinking preached the funeral sermon. Funeral (text?) was John 13:7.
[1518] Christ was her life, so also her death was gain; she is now blessed, with her Savior, and free of all pain.
[1519] Though her death is a great loos, we must nevertheless in view of her blessed end cry out: The Lord has done all things well. God's ways may appear dark to us, but yet in humble subjection to Him we say: "It is the Lord, He hath done whatsoever He pleased, His will is best. What God does is well done."
