[2556] Jake P. Johannes, son of Peter and Josephine Johannes was born December 4, 1886 on a farm north of Ashton. Jake attended grade school in the county and Catholic school in Ashton. Mary E. Seivert, the duaghter of Nick and Angeline Seivert was born March 20, 1887 on a farm east of Ashton. Mary attended country school and graduated from Ashton High School. She taught country school until her marriage to Jake on September 24, 1912. They were married in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. They farmed north and east of town until they rtired in 1949 and moved to Ashton.
[2557] Jake and Mary were the parents of nine children. Zita Thiele of Sibley; Martin, deceased; Rosemary Seivert, Sheldon; Viola Trei, Ashton; John, deceased; Helen Swanson, Minneapolis, Minnensota; Laura Jungers, Sauk Centre, Minnesota; Lawrence, Ashton and Alice Heffele of Adrian, Minnesota.
[2558] Mary E. died February 16, 1953 and Jake P died on September 14, 1978.
