[984] Obituary - Mrs. Elizabeth Arendt
[985] Mrs. Peter J. (Elizabeth) Arendt, 97, 518 Oak St. Luxemburg, died Tuesday evening in a Green Bay nursing home. She was born Dec 15, 1887 to the late George and Mary (Schauer) Rueckl.
[986] On Nov 7, 1910 she married Mr. Arendt at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. She and her husband operated a farm in Luxemburg until 1952. Mr. Arendt preceded her in death March 24, 1962.
[987] Mrs. Arendt was a member of St. Mary Christian Mothers Society and the American Legion Auxiliary Ralph Kline Post 262.
[988] Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Claudia and Adolph Hoffman and Clarissa Balza both of Luxemburg; seven grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Doris Hochuli Luxemburg; nieces and nephews.
[989] She was preceded in death by four brothers, George Alfred, Richard and Edmund Rueckl; two sisters, Julia Seidl and Mary Liebl; one son-in-law William Balza.
[990] Friends may call at McMahon Funeral Home, 530 Main St. Luxemburg, from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday until the time of service. American Legion Auxiliary service 7 p.m. Friday, Christian Mothers Society service7:30 p.m. Parish wake service 8 p.m. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, with the Rev. Milton Suess officating. Burial in church cemetery.

[2828] Married Bertha Smith in Coleman, Wis., had 9 children and ran a large farm. Sold the farm in the middle of the 20's and moved to Green Bay. John could hardly speak English, and barely write his name. He could not read and was very hard to understand. Bertha couldn't read or write. But could speak English reasonably well.
[2829] John's anscestors farmed in the town of Bellevue. One served in the Civil War. One of the nine children came back to the Green Bay area.
