[2437] Transcript of Letter from Rose Muckley (Cousin to Joseph Valentine Angst) to John William Angst.
[2438] Dear John,
[2439] This is such a beautiful day and I must do a beautiful and Happy act, which is to write to you about your ancestry. I love to think about your ancestry and mine. THey were a wonderful folk; staunch and independent as the great Swiss mountains. Their descendents too are a special people; both here and in Switzerland, and by the way many have found their home and living in Brazil, So Am.
[2440] I am sending you a picture which I think should be yours because your name is John. This picture is of two men Gottfried Widmer (my grandfather) and Nickalaus Widmer who had a sister MAry Widmer who married a John Angst. Their son John Angst came to the U.S in 1881 and settled in South Dakota where your father Joseph Angst was born.
[2441] The man seated in the picture is Gottfried. When he went back to visit his family, Mary Widmer Angst was no longer living. There was a third brother, Gabriel, who died even before Gottfried came to the U.S which was in 1853.
[2442] When I was in Switzerland (1925) I met three sons of Nickalaus Widmer, one called Gottfried Widmer, and one called John Widmer, amd one called Eugene Widmer, all married with grown children all married also. I had such a good time with them all and continue being proud of them, and proud to say a son named John in every family. My mother had a brother named John also.
[2443] It would be wonderful to put this picture in a nice frame and also have many large copies made of this precious picture for the rest of your brothers and sisters. You think about it. Also if you have another son name him John, the name honored in our clan.
[2444] John, I had such a good visit with you and all. Your mother Marion is a perfect woman and mother. Her children must have their good looks from her. I love her and am happy about her children. My short visit in Green Bay was the best I ever had. We must see each other soon. Come over.
[2445] And how are the "Green Bay Packers?" I follow the news about their victories. They are getting famous.
[2446] My deep affection to you, your wife and children. Yours, Rose Muckley.
