[161] Alice Lindstrom remembers: Mother was born outside of Leige, Belgium July 17, 1870, and died October 25, 1957 and both of my parents are buried at Amberg, WI. Her sister, Odell was also born in Leige, 1873, and died in 1950. She was our connection to out shirt-tail relations the Smeester family as Mrs. Joe Smeester Sr. was Uncle Emile Boulander's sister.

[163] Last Rites are held for Mrs. Mary Duca
[164] Amberg Services were held Monday at the Amberg Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Mary Duca who died Friday in Iron Mountian Memorial Hospital. She was ill a short time and was 87 years old.
[165] She was born in Lieage, Belgium; the former Mary Balza a resident of the town of Amberg for 63 years. She came here from Appleton where she worked and married Hubert Duca, April 18, 1892. He died in 1934.
[166] She is survived by two sons, Henry, of Ladysmith, WI,and Arthur, of Upton, WY. Preceded in death by one daughter, Mamie Willis of Pembine. Four other daughters Anna Bolander of Amberg, Ida Bolander of Pembine, Lucy Dixon, of Pembine, and Alice Lindstrom, Niagara, WI. Three Brothers John Balza of Appleton, Louis Balza of Green Bay, Joseph Balza of Brussels, WI. Two sisters, Eleanor Robson and Julia Teske of Green Bay. 26 grand children and 48 great grand children.
[167] Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial was in the Amberg cemetery. Morasky Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

[169] Rites this afternoon for Mrs. Mary Duca, 87 of Amberg, pioneer resident, were held this afternoon at the Amberg Presbyterian church, the Rev. A.B. Pearson, Jr. officated and burial was in the Amberg cemetery. Six Grandsons were Pallbearers which were Irvin Duca, Hubert Willis, Andrew Bolander, Clarence, leroy and Bernard Bolander.
[170] The Niagara Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star conducted rites. The Morasky Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

[760] Born on the 17th of March, 1883 the son of Anton Streit and Mary M. Johannes.

[763] FAMILY HISTORY
[764] Michael married Katherine on the 11th of June, 1907. Michael was a carpenter, and Katherine worked in the home. Their first child Helena was born the 19th of February, 1909. Their second Beatrice Marie was born the 29th of June, 1911. Their first boy Harold Anton was born the 12th of January, 1914. After Harold's birth the family moved to a two room house in Mitchell, South Dakota. Here their third girl Katherine Cynthia born the 9th of November, 1916, and their last son John Henry born the 20th of June 1918. In 1921 Katherine became sick with influenza and died shortly thereafter. Harold remembers being called to the hospital and the age of seven, to hear his mother tell him to be a good boy. After talking to each of her children, Katherine passed away on the 17th of February, 1920.
[765] After her death Michael tried to keep the family together, but was unable to cope with his job and caring for the children as well. Michael's brother-in-law Leo and his sister Theresa came to visit from Algona, Iowa. Since Michael was having such a hard time with his carpentry work and trying to keep the family together, it was decided that Leo and Theresa would take Betty and the younger children (Kate and Jack) back to Algona with them. The Helen and Harold stayed with their father in Mitchell, where they were enrolled in Notre Dame, a private boarding school.
[766] Harold remembers that his father was one of the original carpenters who worked on the Corn Palace at that time. He also remembers that his father had the reverse Midas-touch, and very seldom was successful in business matters. Because of this fact he lost the house and Harold was sent to live with his Aunt Dischler in Minnesota, while Helen stayed in the Mitchell boarding school.
[767] At age 9 Harold was shipped to Algona to live with his Aunt Mary, Betty, Katie, and Jack. They shared rooms in Aunt Mary's three bedroom house, Betty and Katie shared one room while Jack and Harold shared another.
[768] Harold was later sent to St. Mary's boarding school in Humbolt, Iowa.
[769] Michael died on the 19th of May, 1958.
