Emil BOULANGER was born in Dyckesville, Kewaunee county, Wisconsin, in 1874.  Emil was the eight child  born to Sebastien Joseph BOULANGER and Vriginie COLLIN

Odile Julie Marie Ghislane BALZA was born in village of Sart-Walhain, Brabant Province, Belgium on January 22nd, 1873. Odile was the fourth child born to Antoine BALZA and Marie Antoinette FLAHAUT.  Odile immigrated with her family in 1880, boarding the vessel "Belgenland" in Antwerp, Belgium traveling as steerage passengers, they arrived in New York on August 26th, 1880. The passenger list of the Belgenland lists the family as follows: Antoine Balza, age 35, farmer from Belgium; Antoinette Flahaut, age 35, wife; J.Bte. (Jean Baptiste), age 11;  (Anne) Marie, age 9; Adele (Odile), age 5; Virginia (Virginie), age 3; Theophile, age 2.  From New York, they traveled to Green Bay from where they proceeded to establish a residence in the town of Duval, Door County, Wisconsin.

Emil and Odile were married on February 5th, 1902. and raised three children as follows:

Odile preceded Emil in death departing this world in 1950.  Emil died on August 20th, 1965.

BOULANGER Ancestry

The BOULANGER (Boo lan jay) family originates in the province of Brabant Belgium.  The oldest known Boulanger ancestor found to date is Laurent BOULANGER (1764 - 1845) who married Marie Catherine ? (1768 - 1842) Laurent and Marie (Laurent Boulanger Family History) had at least one son Pierre Jacques BOULANGER (1800 - ?) who married Marie Josephine FLEMAL (1807 - ?).  Pierre and Marie had 11 children (Pierre Boulanger Family History).  Their fifth child was Sebastien Joseph BOULANGER (1836 -1920) who married Virginie COLLIN (1834 - 1920).  Sebastien and Virginie had 10 children (Sebastien Boulanger Family History). Their 8th child was Emil BOULANGER (1874 - 1965) who married Odile BALZA (1873 - 1950).  This family history is described above.


COLLIN Ancestry

The only known COLLIN ancestor at this time is Virginie COLLIN (1834 - 1920) who married Sebastien BOULANGER and raised 10 children, the eighth of which was Emil BOULANGER described above.


BALZA Ancestry

The surname BALZA is a derivation (Belzer, Balzac, Balzer, etc.) of  the ancient name "BALTHAZAR" (one of the three wise men).  The country of origin for this Balza family is Belgium more specifically Sart-Walhain in Namur Province where we've traced our earliest known ancestors.  At this time the earliest known family group with the Balza surname is Jean Joseph BALZA who married Marie Therese BRABANT.  Very little is known about this family - it is still a subject for on-going research (Jean Joseph Balza Sr. Family History). They had at least one son Jean Joseph Balza (1804 - 1889) who married Virginie BERO (1807 - 1872) and they where blessed with eight children (Jean Joseph Balza Family History).  The youngest of these was Antoine BALZA (1845 - 1927) who married Marie Antoinette FLAHAUT (1845 - 1927). Antoine and Marie Antoinette had ten children  (Antoine Balza Family History) six of which were born in Belgium.  The fourth child was Odile who married Emil BOULANGER, this family is described above.


FLAHAUT Ancestry

The FLAHAUT surname originates in Sart-Walhain, Namur Province, Belgium.  Our earliest known Flahaut ancestor is Pierre Joseph FLAHAUT (1804 - unknown) who married Julienne ADAM (about 1803 - unknown).  This couple had  6 children  (Pierre Joseph Flahaut Family History) the youngest of which was Marie Antoinette FLAHAUT (1845 - 1927).  Marie married Antoine BALZA (1845 - 1927).  Antoine and Marie Antoinette had ten children  (Antoine Balza Family History) six of which were born in Belgium.  The fourth child was Odile who married Emil BOULANGER this family is described above.
