Obituary - Godfrey Van Lanen

Godfrey Van Lanen, 85, former resident of the town of Scott, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Angst, 1415 Day street, of old infirmities, he had been ill since Wednesday. The deceased was the son of Peter Van Lanen, first treasurer of the town of Scott who served in that position for 10 years. He (Godfrey) represented Scott as a supervisor in Brown County, and was a manager of the Wequiock creamery for twenty years, and held offices in the parochial school and Holy Cross Church in Bay Settlement.

Mr. Van Lanen was born near Wequiock, March 17, 1854, and was married when he was 22 to Hannah Herman, Bay Settlement. He farmed until his wife's death 20 years ago when he retired and turned over his farm to his son. He made a home with his daughter for 16 years.

Survivors are three sons, Peter, Rockland; Martin, Wequiock; Albert Kaukauna; one daughter Mrs. Angst; 26 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

The body is at the Dupont-Malcore funeral home where it will remain until the funeral services at 9:15 a.m. Friday at SS Peter and Paul's church with burial in Holy Cross Church Bay Settlement.
