Johannus Van Lanen &
Allegonda Van Den Berk
Johannus VAN LANEN was born on October 20th, 1820, in Boekel, Noord Brabant, Holland the third son of Gerardus VAN LANEN and Johanna Adriaan Giele VANDER HIEJDEN.
Allegonda VAN DEN BERK was born on 16 march 1810, in Boekel, Noord Brabant, Holland the daughter of Willem VAN DEN BERK and Anna Maria VAN DEN BOGAART.
Johannus married Allegonda in Boekel, Holland, on February 2nd, 1842. Their first child Anna Maria was born in late 1842 and their second Peternetta was born in 1850. Like his brother Bernard (Gerardus) Johannus followed the rest of the family in immigrating to the Untied States.
Johannus and Allegonda together with their two daughters Anna Maria and Peternetta immigrated to Brown County, Wisconsin in the United States. They boarded the ship "South Carlina in Rotterdam and arrived at the Port of New York on May 2nd, 1851. Its probably that they followed in the footsteps of many before them to reach the rest of their family who had arrived before them in 1849, by taking the train to Syracuse, New York, then the Erie Canal to Buffalo and onboard another ship to cross the Great Lakes to end up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In the book "Dutch Immigrants to the United States 18-35 to 1880" Robert Swierenga documented the families departure based upon the records in Holland as follows:
On the Dutch side he found this record of the families departure:
On the U.S. side the passenger list was found as follows:
Currently, little more is known about this family.
