1. Mary E. ('Mollie') CLAYTON1,2,3,4,5,6 (pictured above--photo courtesy of Pat Sproat),
second daughter and second child of Joseph Alvey
CLAYTON and Margaret Amanda POOLE, was born on 20 Feb 1851 in Washington County,
Texas.7,8 She married William Fletcher BACHMAN, son
of John B. BACHMAN and Margaret Morris HUGHES, on 20 Jan 1874 in Navarro County, Texas.9,10,11,12,13,14 She died on 20 Jul 1889 in Dallas County,
Texas, at age 38.15,16,17,18 She was buried in Cochran Chapel Cemetery, Dallas, Dallas
County, Texas.19,20,21 Her name may have been Margaret. One
source states that she was born on 15 Jul 1852 in Dallas County, Texas. One source states
that she married William Fletcher BACHMAN on 19 Jan 1874 in Kerens, Navarro County, Texas.22,23,24
William Fletcher BACHMAN25,26 was born on 16 Sep 1846 in Delina, Marshall County, Tennessee.27,28,29 He died on 21 Apr 1911 in Dallas County, Texas, at age 64.30 He was buried in Cochran Chapel Cemetery, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.31,32,33 He was educated at McKenzie College in Clarksville, Tennessee and was a school teacher for most of his adult life. He enlisted in Thomas's company of Nat Burford's regiment in the Confederate Army in 1863 and served until the end of the Civil War. (James Thomas was captain of Company K, which was raised in Dallas County, Texas, and Burford commanded the 19th Texas Cavalry Regiment, part of Parsons's Brigade. The 19th was for much of the war stationed in eastern Arkansas but spent some time in southeastern Missouri and northern Louisiana. It engaged with Union troops on several occasions.) His grave marker gives 13 Apr 1911 as the date of his death, and another source gives 20 Apr 1911.34,35,36,37

Two pages are on letterhead of Charles H. Highnote, 616 S. 15th St., Corsicana, Tex. Some
or all are thought to have been written by Mrs. Highnote from a family bible. The bible
probably is now in the San Jacinto battlefield museum, near Houston, Texas. Joe Guthrie,
Corsicana, Tex., provided copies to Roger Bartlett on 31 May 1973.
