1. David Franklin LOOP, third son and fourth child of John LOOP and Margaret
Rebecca SPOHR, was born circa 1840 in Missouri.1,2
He was known as Frank. He enlisted, with his brother, Josiah, in the Confederate Army at Dallas, Texas on 12 Sep 1861 as a private in Company I, 6th Texas Cavalry (also known as the Stone's Regiment, 2nd Texas Cavalry) for twelve months. He brought with him a horse valued at $115 and equipment (including a double-barreled gun) valued at $20. He was promoted to Third Sergeant on 26 May 1862. Wounded in action at Corinth, Mississippi on 4 October 1862, he was taken prisoner. No record has been found whether he was paroled or died. He may have been a Second Sergeant when captured and may have been a member of Stirman's Regiment of Sharp Shooters for Phifer's Brigade.3
