Grave Markers of Samuel Millett
Samuel Millett was the husband of Clementina Bartlett.
The biography by Willie Mae Weinert published in the Seguin [Texas] Enterprise on
February 19, 1937
and republished on page 29 of Historical Sketches, Seguin Centennial
describes his grave marker as "unusual," continuing:
"It was erected in 1863 before the days of the establishing of the Woodmen Lodge in
Texas;
but it greatly resembles markers now used by Woodmen
to mark graves of their departed members."
In the top photograph below, Samuel's marker is in the center;
to the left is the marker of his daughter, Allie,
and to the right is a marker placed by the State of Texas
to honor his service in the Texas Revolution.
The bottom photograph shows the inscription on the top of Samuel's marker.
These photographs were made in the fall of 1997.
