Obituary of Margaret Amanda Clayton
This handwritten obituary was written by
Norris Witherspoon1

Mrs. Margaret Amanda Clayton, amiable wife of Capt. Joseph A. Clayton, died on Tuesday the 29th day of July 1873 of pulmonary consumption. She has been a long sufferer and a patient one. She was illy prepared in her feeble condition to bear the shock of her husband's misfortune.2 Her decline was rapid, she never rallied again but her nerve gave way under the sudden unexpected blow. The path of sorrow and that path alone, leads to the land where sorrow is unknown.
