He emigrated first to Surrey Co., VA, settled in Charles Co., MD, and
in 1681 moved permanently to "Hope" plantation in Stafford Co., VA.
In his lifetime,
Daniel Mathenia, as he was called, acquired "Portowne",
"Wentworth-Woodhouse", "Fernes", "Methena'a Folly", "Cowland", and
"Hope" plantations.
