- Joel came first to Windsor before 1802; in 1806, he was "of
Windsor" when buying land in Reading; was in Reading for the 1810
census, but had returned to Windsor when the Reading property was
sold in 1813. [17f] The census' show him to have been continuously in Windsor after this time, but he seems to have been taxed
in Stockbridge 1825-1826. [Brothers Benjamin & Moses res. in
Stockbridge.] In 1850, he and Mehitable were in Bangor, Franklin
Co., NY in the household of (son or nephew) Chester Blanchard.

- Jonas was a miller for most of his life, living many years
in Windsor and Cavendish. From the number of listings in the
Windsor Deed Index, he seems to have been a land speculator as
well. Before his marriage, he bought in 1804 and 1805 part of
Lot 42, 2nd Division of houselots, as well as a mill spot, yards
and pond lying in WIndsor West Parish (from Benjamin Blanchard of
Hinsdale and Abraham Carlton of Windsor). A number of the later
deed transactions were to provide a good supply of water behind
his dam. Jonas also witnessed the 1816 sale of land in Reading by
father, Moses Sr., to Moses Jr. [17f;17g]
- At some time after 1830, Jonas and Abigail moved to Cavendish, buying, in 1839, the "Dodge House" in Proctorsville, located by the Factory or Mill Canal and the road to Cavendish Lower
Village. [18a] None of the children are at home in 1840, although Eber lived nearby, having returned from Beekmantown, NY.
Abbott was in Ludlow; James and Asa may have both been in Rochester, NY. After Abigail died in 1850, Jonas may have left Cavendish for a time.
- He was back by 1860, living with an ABEL Blanchard. He
shortly left again to visit his son James in Richmond, IN where
he died. Abbott was detailed to bring his body back to Proctorsville. At some time before his death, Jonas assigned his estate
to his daughter-in-law, Hepsibah, wife of Eber. [17a] One might
theorize that she may have cared for her mother-in-law in her
last illness and this was Jonas' way of showing his appreciation.
Jonas and his family may all have belonged to the Universalist
Church, for he sold a pew in 1857. [18a]
