
Susan2 Blaney (James D.1)was born in St.-Sylvestre, Lotbinière Co. Québec on 5 July 1843. She died in Buffalo of a stroke on 16 January 1930 and is buried in the Carlisle family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery. She married James Carlisle circa 1869, although no marriage record has been found to date.
James Lofland Carlisle was born c. 1830 in Milford, Kent Co. DE. He died of gangrene on 10 December 1891 in Buffalo, Erie Co. NY. and is buried with his wife. He first appeared in Buffalo records in the 1860s, where the city directory gave his profession as ship's captain. Like many Buffalonians, he worked on a "propeller," a steamship that took emigrants to the West and returned with grain for the East. In 1885 he was listed as the captain of the propeller "Milwaukee." The family lived for many years on Elk Street, a location convenient to the docks. After James death from gangrene on 10 December 1891, the family moved uptown and lived for many years at 500 Lafayette Avenue. James is buried with his wife.
