POLLY C. Lain married William P. Gray Jan 14 1836 in Kentucky. Polly was probably a nickname for MARY, as she is referred to as both Polly and Mary
in various documents. Their son, Nathaniel, stated on his second marriage license that he was born in Wayne County, Illinois. Both the marriage
license (1930) and Nathaniel's death certificate (1936 - he was born in
1845) spell the last name as "Lane," rather than "Lain." Did Nathaniel have siblings?

JOHN RANDOLPH (Little Jack), b. 9/24/1836, m. Elizabeth Kivett
SCYNTHA A., b. 6/6/1834, m. ___Campbell and moved to western North Carolina
My grandfather, JOHN RANDOLPH Lane, b. 10/30/1867, d. 12/25/1941 was the son
of Sarah A. Lane and Clark York. John had one sister, BATIE Lane. She
married Well Edwards.

LUTHER JOHN Lane b. 6/14/1912, d. 1990
SUE DORTHY Lane b. 4/12/1917, d. 1914
If my great grandmother had not taken her maiden name of Lane back for herself and her children, my last name would have been York and our Lane
history may have been lost or forgotten. My father was born near Ramseur, Moorehead Township(?), Randolph County, North Carolina.
Thank you for your help and for any information you have on my great grandmother Lane. She died less than four months after my father was born.

I am still looking for documentation on the birth of TILMAN Lane, born about 1773. Indications are that he was the son of the TIDENCE Lane who was the son of JOHN FULLER Lane. John Fuller Lane was a brother of the better-known Reverend TIDENCE Lane, Baptist minister. It is possible that Tilman was born in Randolph County, NC, since his father's family was close to the Mulkey brothers who were Baptist ministers and
associated with the Sandy Creek Church, near the Allamance battlefield in NC. Tilman first appears in print in a tax list in Washington County, Tennessee in 1797. A Tidence Lane is on the same list. Unfortunately for
researchers, the Reverend Tidence had a son named Tidence who was about 10 years older than John Fuller Lane's son Tidence and they seem to be confused in some narrative accounts of the families. I need to document, document, document! Willing to share data with others of this line.

ALANSON Lane was born June 12 or 15, 1815 in Connecticut and died in Greenwich, CT on September 15, 1863 at the age of 48 yrs, 3 months and 3 days. He married Anna Purdy in Greenwich, CT in 1835. They had several children including my Great-Great Grandmother PHOEBE Lane who married William Henry Pugsley in 1860.
Now, I thought Alanson Lane was the son of COMFORT Lane and Betsey Sikes of Suffield, CT. Suffield town records list an Alanson born to Comfort and Betsey on June 15, 1815.
But, DAR records claim a SAMUEL ALANSON Lane was born to Comfort and Betsey in Suffield on 6/29/1815 and died in Akron, OH in 1905. This information coming from a Lane family history.
Alanson, the son of Comfort and Betsey, and his brother Samuel Alanson who died in 1809 at the age of 11 months are the only children I can find born in Connecticut with this name. Does anyone have any information on either Alanson Lane from Connecticut or Samuel Alanson Lane who died in Ohio in 1905? I would really like to quit losing sleep over this dilemma.

Seeking any information in regard to MARGARET "PEGGY" Lane who married Wiley Warwick, Sr. in Grainger County, Tennessee 16 October 1800. I have children for this couple: William Warwick (1802-1850); Temperance "Tempy" Warwick b. 1806; Nancy Warwick (1811-1881). However, my G-G Grandfather, Wiley Warwick, Jr. was born in 1824, so I believe his mother was Wiley, Sr.'s second wife, Katherine.
Peggy Warwick was the daughter of ISAAC Lane and Sarah Russell. Wiley and Peggy Warwick were members of the Hinds Creek Baptist Church, founded in 1806. Any supplemental details on this family would be welcome.

I'd like to find information on ASA Lane and his family. I have little knowledge of my Lane connection and would very much like to add to it. Any help will be so welcome.
Asa Lane is the first of this line that I have located. He had land transactions in Alleggheny Co. Penn. on December 24, 1806. It names his wife as Charlotte. I've found them on the Penn. census for 1810; 1820;
1830; and a CHARLOTTE Lane as head of household in 1840 with a male aged 50/70. I believe this Charlotte to be a daughter of Asa.
My ancestor is their daughter, MARY ANN who married John Reed and they lived in the Pittsburg area all their lives. John and Mary Ann ( Lane ) Reed had the following children: James; John; Hugh: William; Charlotte; George Washington; Mary Ann; Sarah; Jane; Margaret; Samuel. Their daughter, Mary Ann married David Addison Hudson. The daughter of David and Mary Ann, Mary Rowena married Andrew Polk Crumley and they lived most of ther lives in W.V. with a few years in Penn. They had a son, Alonzo, E. who was my Grandfather.
