Please Help Support Brandywine Crucible

Many of you know about the numerous programs, projects, and activities that your family organization sponsors and organizes, ranging from hosting a broadly based family reunion and organizational meeting in Lampasas, Texas, publicizing other reunions for our network of Cox family lines and other related families, operating an extensive DNA project, to publishing a newsletter and maintaining a web site.  Brandywine also has a project to collect pictures of those who have served in the military, an archaeology project, a cemetery marker project, a program to distribute family-related books to selected libraries and lineage organizations, and a youth essay contest.  We also collect short autobiographies and biographies which we post to our web site.  You can readily see that Brandywine serves our extended family in many ways.  Although we operate with volunteers and on a low budget, it takes some money to do what Brandywine does.  We want to make very clear that all are welcome to participate in any or all of our activities whether or not they are dues-paying members.  But we do solicit dues paying members.  Our dues are $15, $25, $50, or $100, and there is no distinction in membership among these levels. (Of course, we will accept membership dues over $100!)  Our dues year runs from 1 June through 31 May, and we will accept dues payments any time during the year.  If you choose to support Brandywine, you will find a membership form with treasurer Ada Stump’s mailing address on our web site and attached to our reunion mail outs.

Memorial Fund

At its meetings in Lampasas, Texas, in May 2004, the board adopted a proposal by board member Ada Cox Stump to establish the Cox Family Genealogical Memorial Fund under the auspices of Brandywine Crucible, Inc. The purpose of the fund would be to honor loved ones while preserving our family heritage, to develop the bonds of our extended family, and to give donors a way to be a part of a family that cares.

Some of the ways a donor can give are by cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, and research material (books, documents, journals, and diaries, pictures, etc.). Donations may be made at any time, including after death by will or other means. To the extent practicable, the Board of Directors of Brandywine shall administer each gift according to the purposes and conditions, if any, stipulated by the donor. Of course, the board reserves the right to decline to accept any gift, in its discretion.

If you are interested in making such a donation, contact any board member or your family line liaison.
