Bertha married Clifford Walter
Beach in 1928, Ripley County, Indiana. During the Depression,
they went west, to the Yakima Valley, where they worked in the
orchards. Clifford later owned a service station, and Bertha became
a Licensed Practical Nurse. Following Clifford's death, Bertha
married Harvey Lounsbury, 19 May 1962, in Yakima.
Verna married Charles Fry Cumberworth
in 1925, Ripley County. She later lived in Indianapolis, working
for the Selective Service System at the same time I was of draft
age. She married, 1966, Harley Pendergast. I spent several summers
with my Aunt Verna in Indianapolis. She used to drop me off at
the Indiana State Library when she went to work, and I spent the
days exporing the library's genealogy collection.
