Lucy Jane Shaw Hammon

While the date of the photo is unknown, it appears from the staging, and the ages of Nick and Lucy, to have been somewhere about 1895, possibly a few years earlier. Lucy suffered from what was then called dropsy, a heart condition leading to water retention. She died in 1906, aged 57.
