        Honored Breeders 

     

Mrs. Grace Brewin, named Honored Breeder by Bedlington Terrier Club of America in 1999.

After judging the BTCA National Specialty at the 1999 Montgomery County Kennel Club Dog Show, the Bedlington Terrier Club of America honored Mrs.Brewin [who is pictured above] with the Willemsen Humanitarian Award for distinction in the dog world. 
Mrs. Brewin has judged many terrier breeds throughout the world, including England, Sweden, South Africa, Mexico and South America.

 

   Kay Halley meant many things to many people during her 36 year involvement with our unique breed of dog.  To some, she was a fellow club member and exhibitor, to others a loyal friend, mentor, or breeder. Whatever the role, Kay took on her appointed job with gusto and enthusiasm.  Over the years, Kay owned 11 Bedlington Terriers, and bred 13 litters under the kenel name E.J.'s Irish.
    Actually, Kay's involvement in the dog world began in the late 1950's with German Shepards, and Belgian Tervuren.  But once Kay was introduced to the Bedlington Terrier in 1963, her love affair with our breed lasted the rest of her life.  Her first Bedlington was a blue female, Honey Sue of Bala.
    Kay became an active member of the Bedlington Terrier Club of America in 1964, and the Bedlington Terrier Club of Greater Chicago in the early 1990's.  In addition to breeding and showing Bedlington Terriers, Kay also wrote several articles for Dog World Magazine, and a weekly column for the Wheaton Journal newspaper, entitled, "About Dogs."
    Kay's zest for life led her to many other different, and exciting interests.  She was a licensed pilot, performance race car driver, and snowmobile enthusiast.  Married for 43 years, Kay and her husband Ed raised three children, and enjoyed many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
