John Caudill, b April 25, 1815, d April 15, 1891 in Johnson Co., Ky.,
m Jan. 25, 1844, Phoebe Fitzpatrick, b June 15, 1821, d 1870, a daughter
of John and Fanny Rice Fitzpatrick of Floyd Co., Ky. John Caudill
and wife Phoebe were my grandparents. John was a son of my great
grandfather, Stephen Caudill, b 1794. (see Chapter 4). John and Phoebe
lived on a farm on Caudill Branch on Hood Fork of Blaine, about a mile
above where the Sip postoffice used to be. They raised a large family,
eleven children, including my father.

4. Arminta Caudill, b Feb 24, 1849, m Sept. 2, 1878, Uriah
Pack. They had one child, John C. Pack.
5. Frances "Fanny" Caudill, b Dec 7, 1850, d 1931, m June
6, 1878, Landon Taylor Daniel, b 1848, at Mingo, Johnson Co., Ky., d 1930.
Landon Taylor was a son of George W. Daniel and Mary "Polly" Ward.
Uncle Taylor owned and operated sawmills that he moved from one farm to
another and sawed the farmers' timber into lumber. During and after
the Civil War every farm had a lot of virgin timber. The population
was increasing and that meant a greater demand for lumber and houses.
Aunt Fanny was born and grew up on the Caudill Branch on Hood. Uncle
Taylor wore out 6 sawmills and 52 pairs of gum boots. He and Aunt
Fanny lived on the head of Rockhouse, just across a high mountain from
the head of the Buckbranch Fork of Froghonary Fork of Tom's Creek.
Uncle Taylor lived 82 years. See numbers 12-15.

8. William R. Caudill, b July 6, 1857, d Sept. 22, 1857.
9. Martha Ann Caudill, b July 23, 1858, m Lafayette "Lafe"
Chandler, b 1860, of Chandlerville, Ky. where they lived all their married
life. Martha was a sister to Winston Caudill. Lafe had a general
store and kept the Chandlerville Postoffice in his store for many years.
Lafe was a son of James Chandler, b 1838 and Katherine Daniel, and a brother
to Jemima Chandler who m Sherman McKenzie who m my sister Nancy.
Lafe was, also, a brother to Garfield Chandler who was a Johnson Co. school
teacher for over 50 years. see numbers 16-20.
