Family biographies and memorials are the subject of this section of the website. Biographies and memorials are written from the perspective of the writer and often are intentionally about the "good" parts of life and gloss over or omit the harsh realities of life. Memorials are the most likely to honor a person instead of relating factual information about a person. Biographies range from a simple recitation of vital statistics to hundreds of pages detailing a person's life, loves, and motivations. Biographies can be a good source of information and may offer clues in directions that otherwise might have missed.They are included in this database because they offer both a glimpse of our ancestors and if we read carefully, tell us something about the author. Both biographies and memorials are an essential part of genealogy as they are one more stone in the concrete that veries information in the absence of other documentation. You can't really document that Great Great Grandma learned to shoot on her migration West, but a biography can be used to highlight her experiences. Facts contained within this category should be scrutinized and verified with primary sources. We currently have eleven essays in this category. We hope this number will expand as more people gain access to the internet and the interest in genealogy continues to expand.
