DNA Project

Y-DNA testing helps you trace your paternal ancestry using a largest Y-DNA database to compare against.  Since the Y chromosome is passed almost unchanged from father to son y-DNA can be used to prove or disprove lineage and, when compared to the DNA of a cousin, to possibly trace back  to (or identify) a Most Recent Common Ancestor.

The objective of the Carmack DNA Project is to match up individuals or families who share a common male ancestor of the CARMACK surname.

Mailing List

It's no secret or surprise that the biggest strength of the Internet is people helping other people. For the CARMACK surname and its variants, there is one mailing list that I know of:

This is the main mailing list for CARMACK research. You can get basic info about it at RootsWeb, but to subscribe, just send an email to mailto:CARMACK-L-Request@rootsweb.com?SUBJECT=subscribe(or, if you prefer the digest version, mailto:CARMACK-D-Request@rootsweb.com?SUBJECT=subscribe) with the word "subscribe" in the body of the message. That's all there is to it.
