BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Victoria COX's parents, John COX and Ann, nee SMITH, arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia as assisted immigrants on the ship TORY on 9 April 1849. They came with their four children, Emma, Daniel, Julia Ann and John from Bowden in Leicestershire, England. The younger children, George, Rosina, Victoria, Albert and William, were born in New South Wales.
Henry Berriman's father, Thomas Berriman, was a convict from Bisley, Gloucestershire, England, while his mother, Julia Gilligan was an assisted immigrant from County Wicklow, Ireland.
Henry and Victoria moved to Port Stephens by 1876, where their second child, Henry was registered. Henry's sister, Clara Selina CONNELLY, nee BERRIMAN and her husband John P. CONNELLY, also moved to Port Stephens at this time, as their sxith child, Henry Bernard, was registered there in 1876.
