I need information to obtain marriage application/license for Christopher KLINE, married Cheryl and Ronald FARNSWORTH, married Barbara. I do not know the bride's surnames nor the date of marriage. I know they were married about 1968-1975. Is it possible to obtain the licenses without an exact date? Both brides lived in Huron County when they married. Would appreciate any information on where and how to obtain marriage license or about families of Cheryl and Barbara, who are sisters. Cheryl and Barbara had half-brothers with the surname WONDERLAND (however, that is not their maiden name).

I am looking for the parents of my ggggrandmother Lorinda Mary PALMER. She was born in New York on 29th of August 1827. I believe she came to Huron County as a child with her family. She married Stephen DICKSON in Huron Co in 1847. He died, I believe, while serving in the Civil War in 1864. She then married David MAYNARD. Lorinda died in Jan 1893 and is buried next to her first husband in a Huron County Cemetery. She lived in Ripley. She has a GAR marker on her grave.

This is one of my brick walls and sort of a Huron Co question although the answer probably won't be found here. My great uncle, Emil Robert COLEMAN (1870-1905) died in New London, Huron Co OH. He had been married 3 Jan 1893 to Cora BRITTON of Swan Creek Twp., Fulton Co OH and had two children- Hazel E. COLEMAN, born 10 Dec 1894; and Hattie COLEMAN, born 19 Dec 1896. I have been told that the couple divorced, that Emil's folks here in New London wanted to keep the girls, that Cora then took off, that one of the girls soon died, and that there was no further contact. Emil's obituary isn't helpful. Cora was from Chicago IL according to a record in our family Bible but was probably related to Rev. Osborn J. BRITTON who was a minister in Lyons, Fulton Co., OH in 1905. I found a Hazel A. BRITTON, age 15, living in the household of James P. and Lillie M. Nagle, in Toledo, Lucas Co OH in 1910. This doesn't match exactly but is located near Swan Creek Twp if Cora took her two children back to that area. It is the closest I have come to any guess. I doubt that any other Huron Co researchers have connections to the BRITTON family but who knows?

Gloria Ishida Lookup Results-- Do you have any siblings' names of Lorinda Mary? I think then her parents could be found. Prior to the 1850 census, names other than the head of household (no birthplace) were not mentioned. In 1830 and 1840 there were scads of PALMERs in Huron County. If the parents of Lorinda settled in Ripley, then her father may have been L.G. PALMER (1840) but in the 1850 census (Lorinda would have been married) his wife's birthplace is noted as Ohio, his New York. His age is 41, so a little young to be Lorinda's father. So, maybe her parents settled in another township. Siblings names may be the answer to finding the parents.

Randi Bowles-Meentzen Lookup Results-- I have some BRITTONs in my tree from Richmond Co VA and their name is spelled BRITTAIN as well as BRITTAN and BRITTON. The added "i" after the "a" threw me off while searching. Maybe you would try that spelling in your searches. Anyway, my Benjamin BRITTAIN was married to Elizabeth Richards TRIPLETT after her husband died. The TRIPLETT line is my DAR line and, although many TRIPLETTs remain in VA, some TRIPLETTs came to Zanesville, OH and Muskingham . Most of them moved on to Bureau County, IL afterwards but some remained in Ohio. Elizabeth BRITTAIN died in 1824. I do not know what became of Benjamin BRITTAIN.

Tom Neel Lookup Results-- PALMER is a more popular name than Smith in that area of the county. Here is one source. The late Paula Porter Griffin in her book "Carved out of the Wilderness, the history of Fitchville Township" (no longer available) gives a tremendous amount of information on the PALMER family as they were her ancestors. Although a secondary source, this may help sorting out the possibilities. Abijah PALMER - 1773-1840, wife Clarinda REYNOLDS; children, Robert 1799, Nathaniel, David, Tamia 1800, Caroline 1805, Anna 1809, Sarah 1818, Phebe 1825, Maria 1816, Ruth, and Hiram. Alva PALMER - 1794-1827, died in Fitchville Twp., apparently unmarried. Elial PALMER - 1793-1852, wife Mariah BUTLER; children- Sarah Elizabeth, Alfred, Lucius A., Levi Edward, John B., and Mary A. Isaac PALMER - 1811-1867, first wife Samantha PALMER (no relation?), second wife Sarah. Children- Rundle, Julia, Samantha. Levi PALMER - 1789-1875 (doesn't give any family information). Linus PALMER - 1802-1860, wife Jemima ROWLAND; children- Elizabeth Ann, Henry 1834, Sarah Augusta 1835, Edwin M. 1837, Albert G. 1841. Marcus PALMER - 1795-1881 - wife Clarissa JOHNSTON; second wife Jerusha JOHNSTON; children- Delia, and adopted Indian girl Jerusha. Nathan PALMER - 1786-1862, wife Betsey FANCHER; children- Sarah Elizabeth, Henry T., Polly, John W., Julia Ann, Charles L., Eugene, Emily, Jared, Hester L., Matilda Caroline, Nancy, and Delorey. Rundle PALMER - 1786-1876, first wife Julia BRISCO, second wife Clarinda BRISCO; children- Isaac, Samuel, Mary, Marcus, Nathan, David,, Alvah. Samuel PALMER - married 1832 Olive Eliza CURTISS first, then second to Anna P. LYON; children- Preston 1834, Marcus, Samuel. Seeley PALMER - 1797-1892; married Nancy Abigail POST; children- Delia, William F., Hanna Augusta, Rundel Beecher, Hubbard Dennison, Seeley Burdette, Julia Blanche, Lucy, Eliza, Nancy, and three who died young. William PALMER - 1782-?; wife Lydia HUBBARD; children- Amy 1808, Anna 1810, Hannah 1812, William Hubbard 1815, David 1817, Samuel 1820, Harvey 1823. These are just the early ones who lived mostly in Fitchville and Fairfield townships and they all branched out! Articles on each of these families are found in the Fitchville history aforementioned.

Ken Shute Look Up Results - In searching our Huron County, Ohio publications, and the internet, I've come up with a house of cards for the PALMER family in Ripley Twp which might include your Lorinda Mary PALMER. It looks like this (dates are not necessarily exact)- David B. PALMER, b. 1794 MA m. Betsey ____, b. 1790 NH. They had at least two children- 1. Lorenzo M. PALMER b. 1818 VT or NY m. Mary Ann DICKSON, b. 1826, and 2. Lucius PALMER , b. 1827 NY m. Lovisa ______, b. 1840 IN. In the 1860 Census, Lorenzo is listed as a farmer. In the 1880 census he's listed as a shoemaker. In 1873 Atlas of Huron County, OH, L.M. PALMER is listed in the business directory of West Greenwich Village, Greenwich Twp. as a "Shoemaker and a Harness Maker." A Lucius A. PALMER also served in the Civil War in Co. D, 8th O.V.I. as a private. It would be tempting to consider- (a) that Lorinda M. PALMER is a sister of Lorenzo and Lucius PALMER (she's about the same age as Lucius), and (b) that Mary Ann DICKSON, who married Lorenzo M. PALMER in 1846, is the sister of Stephen T. DICKSON who married Lorinda M. PALMER in 1847. Children of Lorenzo and Mary Ann are- Myron A., b. 1849, BP unk., farmer, m. Addie, b. 1850, BP unk., keeping house. Mary W., b. 1846, NY. Francis, b. 1851 OH. Almeda, b. 1853 OH. Althea, b. 1853 OH. Alma, b. 1854 OH. The David T. MAYNARD family and this PALMER family seem to be closely associated in life and in death. The members of the two families own property in close proximity in Section 2 of Ripley Twp. They also lie in close proximity in the Edwards Grove Cemetery, Ripley Twp. I have been looking at the 1850 census, trying to locate my STARR relatives in homes after the loss of parents and Gparents in the 1840s. I believe I found the right Agustus STARR, age 15, with Lebo BLOCKMAN, age 55, and Polly BLOCKMAN, age 47. In the same house is Henritta DEBOISE, age 4. Augustus’ mother’s maiden name was Mercy DUBOIS. When I went back to the Greenfield Pioneer page I find Epenetus STARR, Augustus’ Grandfather, arrived 1817, listed above Lebo BLACKMAN, arrived 1822. That would make this Lebo BLACKMAN 27 yrs old. A possiblility that this is the same Lebo? So my question is, is there a sp error on the census transcription? I seem to have located several of the children, placed with families, but not the oldest brother or the youngest. There was a total of 26 STARR children left with out parents or gparents in just two families between 1839 and 1847. I am still looking for more STARRs in the Huron census for 1850.

Tom, that is some very interesting info and what a lot of PALMERs. I am trying not to be too intimidated by that amount of people to wade through. I guess following one by one will be the way to go! One interesting connection though. In the last listing, the son of William PALMER and Lydia HUBBARD PALMER was named Harvey. This rang a bell to me and so I searched my files and found that my Huron Co Ancestor, Richard BOWLES, in 1868 had a witness sign on his naturalization papers. The name was Harvey HUBBARD .Perhaps a brother to Lydia or nephew etc. I think I will start with this family and see what I come up with. The PALMER line eventualy marries into my BOWLES line through Lorinda PALMER's grandaughter Ida May ROGERS who married Richard's son George BOWLES,(New London 1898) .

Raymond Tompkins Look Up Results - I'll try to fill in all the blanks regarding our orphaned ancestors. Lebo BLACKMAN (This is the correct spelling, not BLOCKMAN) and Polly in the 1850 Census are the parents of Philina BLACKMAN. Philina BLACKMAN later married Dr. Samuel McCAMMON. More on this later. In the 1850 Census, I have found the following orphaned children or children not living at home- Living with Lebo (55 years old) and Polly BLACKMAN (47 years old) - Augustus STARR, 15 years old, probably the son of Orange and Mercy DUBOIS STARR. Henrietta DUBOISE (sic), 10 years old, probably related to Mercy DUBOIS but I never followed up to find out. Philina BLACKMAN and Dr. Samuel McCAMMON had three children- Frank B., Edward S., and Laura E. Edward S. McCAMMON married Julia Blanche STARR. Julia is the orphaned/abandoned daughter of Matthew MCKELVEY STARR and Loviah ARTHUR STARR. I say abandoned because Loviah died in 1868 and Matthew in 1873. In the 1870 Census, a Julia B. STARR, 8 years old, is living with a William McMORRIS and Ann ARTHUR McMorris. Ann ARTHUR is Loviah's older sister. Julia's older sister, Carrie STARR, is living with a John and Elizabeth ARTHUR in the 1870 Census. Back to 1850 Census. As you know, Cyrenius STARR died on 3 Dec 1848 and his wife Eliza (Elizabeth) MCKELVEY STARR died on 11 Apr 1848. They left behind- Cyrus Howard STARR, 21 years old [I have not been able to find Cyrus in the 1850 Census. Cyrus died on 5 May 1855 in Greenfield Township.] Matthew MCKELVEY STARR, 20 years old [I have not been able to find Matthew in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Census. His daughter Carrie was born in Wisconsin in 1859, daughter Julia in California in 1862]. Julia Ann STARR, 18 years old [In the 1850 Federal Census, an Ann STARR is listed living with the James EASTER family, a farmer living in Greenfield Township, Huron Co, Ohio. The age of this Ann STARR is 18, consistent with Julia Ann's age. This could be her. This James EASTER is the husband of Sarah STARR, who died in 1835. Sarah would be Julia Ann's Aunt, sister of Cyrenius]. Jane Elizabeth STARR, 16 years old [In the 1850 Federal Census, a Jane STARR, 16 years old, is listed living with the Andrew F. WHITEMAN family, a farmer living in Greenfield Township, Huron Co, Ohio]. Louisa Maria STARR, 14 years old [I have not found a Louisa Maria in the 1850 Greenfield Township census record]. Clara (Clarinda) STARR, 11 years old [In 1850 a Clarinda STARR, 11 years old, born Ohio, is living with a Nathan and Eliza BAKER in Fairfield Township, Huron County, Ohio]. Alvira Mercy STARR, 8 years old [In the 1850 Federal Census, an Alvira STARR is listed living with a Calop (?) COBB family, a farmer living in Greenfield Township, Huron Co, Ohio]. Philena Isabelle STARR, 5 years old [in 1850, a Filena I STARR is listed living with the Jeremiah WRIGHT family, a farmer living in Greenfield Township, Huron Co, Ohio.] [In 1860 she is living with her sister, Jane STARR ASHLEY].
