William Boyd, Ireland to Georgia
I have been pouring over the clan Boyd
website all afternoon trying to make a connection to these Boyds.
I'm not sure whether I have or not. Let me tell you about the Boyds
I am kin to and see if any of it rings a bell with you.
I am not sure what year but the info I have
has my 4th great grand- father was William Boyd, a native of Ireland who
emigrated to American and fought in the Revolutionary War under Washington.
He then married (I don't know to whom) and settled in Georgia.
His son, John, born in Georgia and lived
there until around 1818, moved to North Carolina, then Tennessee, then
to Illinois in 1823. He settled in the Prairie of Randolph County,
IL where he lived until his death in 1837.
His son, William, was born in Georgia in
1806. He died in 1854 in Randolph Co., IL. He married Isabelle
Douglas(s), born July 5, 1811 in Scotland and died May 30, 1880 in IL,
on January 12, 1832. They had several children, John, Joanna, Lance,
James Hannah, Thomas and William (my great granddad).
I can't find where (in Georgia) William
was born. The names on the Georgia Boyds you have on your website
are so familiar and some were also names he named his own children.
Another piece of information that I had always wondered about was Jane
Weir. In her household in the 1860 census was a William Boyd, age
8. I noticed a Jane Boyd married a Weir, but his name was Robert
and the one I have found was James B.
