1.  James BOYD was born in Aremoy, Co. Antrim, Ireland, and died Bef.  1868
in US.  He married Elizabeth WALKER, (born in Co. Tyrone, Ireland, and died
Aft. 1868 in IA). She had a brother William WALKER who remained in Co.
Tyrone, in Ireland (near Stuartstown). James came to U. S. 1845, probably to
MN. May have resided IA, and/or NE also. 7 children. His parents (names not
known) are buried near Ballemoney in County Antrim, Ireland. Children:

i.  William Orr2 BOYD, b. 18 Sep 1831, Co. Tyrone, Ireland; d. 15 Aug
1920, Ames, Story Co., IA.
ii.  Henry2 BOYD, b. Ireland; d. Abt. 1913, Ames, Story Co., IA (Source:

(Addie is listed as Eliza in the 1880 U. S. Census, Cascade Twp.,
Dubuque Co., IA.)

 2.  William Orr2 BOYD (JAMES 1) was born 18 Sep 1831 in Co. Tyrone, Ireland
(Source: Baptism record, Ballyclog Parish, Co. Tyrone, Ireland.), and died
15 Aug 1920 in Ames, Story Co., IA.  He married Ella H.. DOXEY 4 Jan 1870 in
Waterloo, IA, daughter of Thomas B. DOXEY and Margaret HENRY.William came to
the U. S. c. 1847 (to MN?). In DeSoto, NE in 1868. Enlisted in Civil War at
Rochester, MN, 11th Vol. MN. To Ames, IA in 1871, remained abt. 10 years,
operating hardware store. Then to Paulina, IA for 18 years. Returned to
Ames, IA in Oct 1901. He was christened: 11 Jun 1837, Ballyclog Parish, Co.
Tyrone, Ireland. Children:

  i. Emma Helen3 BOYD, b. 15 Feb 1871, Waterloo, IA (Source: Ella Doxey
Boyd genealogy.); m. W. Clyde JONES. They resided Evanston, IL. In
1903 he was with Jones & Addington, Attorneys, Chicago, IL.

 3.  Margaret2 BOYD (James 1) was born in Ireland.  She married George B.
DOUGLAS. They resided Waterloo, IA. He was member of Douglas & Brown,
contractors. Had a cousin Robert Stuart in Waterloo. Child:

Story Co., IA.  She married Merton Ezekiel MOORE 1907, son of Ezekiel MOORE
and Anna FOBER. Children:

 7.  George B.3 DOUGLAS, JR. (Margaret 2 BOYD, James 1) was born Unknown,
and died 1923 in Cedar Rapids, IA (Source: The Iowan, Spring 1978.).  He
married IRENE ???. George's will admitted to probate 26 Nov. (1923?) in
Cedar Rapids, IA. Founder and President of Douglas Starch Works (later
Quaker Oats). Resided at Brucemore, 1st Ave., Cedar Rapids, IA from 1906.
Children:

  i.  Margaret4 DOUGLAS, b. Unknown; m. HOWARD HALL, 1924, Cedar
Rapids, IA (Source: The Iowan, Spring 1978.). They resided at
Brucemore after her parents's deaths. Howard was president of Iowa
Steel and Iron Works, Iowa Mfg. Co., & Amana Refrigeration Co.

Subj:  Re: BOYD, WALKER - Ballyclog parish

I found these families in the volumes on Famine Immigrants . . . 1846-1851, which
are very likely my Boyd family from Ballyclog parish, Co. Tyrone. The father and two
children came first. Then the mother and 5 children later. We had though that boys
came with James, but it appears they were girls. Some of the ages are a little off in
these, but William believed he was born in 1839 until he got the affidavit of his baptism
that showed his birth in 1836.

Not certain, but probably "ours"
Vol. 1, p. 218, on board the Columbia 31 Jul 1846 from Liverpool:

Margaret, daughter age 19
Sarah, daughter age 17

Vol. 3, p. 166. On board the ship Patrick Henry from Liverpool 24 Jul 1848.
