480- Thomas Y. Boyd born Damascus Township, Delaware county, PA
on
Jan 9, 1823. His Grandfather,
JOHN. was killed at Tripoli in 1813 while under
Gen. Decatur of the American
forces. Father, James, was born in Philadelphia
in the Frankford district
in 1795. James moved to Damascus in 1808 with the
Duffield family as an apprentice
boy. James died in 1842 leaving wife, Nancy
Canfield, of Litchfield County,
CT and children Thomas Y., David, Joseph,
Caroline (Eighney).
Thomas Y. married in March 1849 Betsey Jane Mitchell,
and he died on March 7, 1889.
They had twelve children, but only the
following lived to maturity
Joseph, Elizabeth, Rena, Charle E., Thomas Boyd Jr.
Remarks: I wonder if the Allentown
connection can extend back to the
Frankford district near Philly.
The dates suggest THOMAS BOYD may be brother
to the original Boyd in Allentown,
namely JOHN, and Thomas's son James just
followed his uncle to the
area. Food for thought. I'd love to hear from
anyone who can provide some
connections.
