Luther Columbus Boyd
Luther Columbus Boyd, 85, of
Willis Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia, died
Monday, March 26, 2001, at
the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, where he
was airlifted Sunday following
an automobile accident on the Blue Ridge
Parkway not far from his home.
He was born Aug 12, 1915, in
Patrick County, son of the late Rufus Boyd
and the late Emma Wood Boyd.
He also was preceded in death by both of his
children, son Luther Elvin
Boyd and daughter Virginia Rhumell Willett, and
two brothers, Alvy Boyd and
Guy Boyd.
He had participated in and
won numerous flatfoot dance contests throughout
his life, including a number
at the Patrick County Fair in Stuart and at
the former Martinsville/Henry
County Fair.
Surviving are his wife, Gracie
Irene Boyd of Meadows of Dan; two
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and one sister, Myrtle Boyd of
Meadows of Dan.
A graveside service will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Boyd family
cemetery, located on Belcher
Mountain Road near the Boyd home.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart,
VA is in charge of arrangements.
