When looking at census records, place yourself in the time in which you are dealing. Look at the people that live in dwellings near the the individual (s) you are searching. Remember, one couldn't just jump in the car and go calling on a friend. Often times the spouse to be was next door, or very close.
Remember the "Old Naming Pattern" Many times these were used to name children, but not always.
SONS
1st son after the father's father
2nd son after the mother's father
3rd son named after the father
4th son after the father's oldest brother
5th son after the mother's oldest brother
6th son after father's second oldest brother
DAUGHTERS
1st daughter after mother's mother
2nd daughter after father's mother
3rd daughter after the mother
4th daughter after the mother's oldest sister
5th daughter after the father's oldest sister
