8. Rueben P.3 Hollinshead (Joshua L.2, John1)105,106,107 was born on 3 May 1857 in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois.108 He married Mary S. Brumagrin, daughter of Dr. R. J. Brumagrin and Jane D. Van Cleef, on 25 Oct 1882 in Morrison, Whiteside County, Illinois.109,110,111 He died before Jun 1900. His wife's census record for 1900 shows her as a widow.

He was enumerated with Elizabeth Rush on the census of 1 Jun 1860 in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States, noted as "Grandson." He left home when he was 19 years of age to learn the jewelry business, and bought out an establishment at Fulton, where he acquired a practical knowledge of its details circa 1876.112 He entered the clothing house of H. George Hollinshead9. George Leland3 Hollinshead (Joshua L.2, John1) was born on 9 Apr 1867 in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois. He married Adelaide Nancy Fisk, daughter of N. N. Fisk and N. N. (--?--), on 14 May 1891 in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States.137,138 He married Harriet Mae Stalcup, daughter of Lt. Stephen G. Stalcup Sr. and Mary Jane Hoover, on 4 Jul 1901 in Missouri. He died on 1 Oct 1948 in McGuire, Idaho, at age 81. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho.

He had blue eyes, and like Benjamin Rush, and three of his four sons, had pattern baldness. She was living in 1926 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois (This is the 'Aunt Mattie' Emma-Jane visited in Chicago in 1926. Emma-Jane was there to go to school, studying with the reknown reading expert Dr. Gray. Mattie showed her around town).

11. May (Miriam) Amanda3 Knight (Julia Ann2Hollinshead, John1) was born on 24 Jul 1865 in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois. She married James Willis on 24 Dec 1884 in Clinton County, Iowa.152 She died on 26 Apr 1944 in Brush, Morgan County, Colorado, at age 78. She was 78 years 9 months & 2 days at death. She was buried in Brush, Morgan County, Colorado. Burial at Brush Memorial Cemetery.

Family letters indicate that she was born in Fulton, Whiteside Co., Illinois. Perhaps we can I.D.her parent's there. Letters signed by her. Actual given name seems to have been MIRIAM AMANDA - P.V. Thorne.153 She and James Willis were married by H.F. Gilbert, Minister, Marriage License No. 10144 (original document is missing).154

She also went by the name of Flossie.

·        iii. Charles Elmer was born on 8 Jul 1889 in Thayer, York County, Nebraska. He died in 1964.

He lived in 722 West Edison Street, Brush, Morgan County, Colorado.

·        iv. Beulah Fay was born on 17 May 1895 in Thayer, York County, Nebraska. She died in 1954.

·        v. Bernard Theodore was born on 9 May 1908 in York County, Nebraska. He died in Jul 1954 in Colorado at age 46.

His Social Security Number was 523-05-2364.156 He was too old to join military during WWII but he persisted & the USMC finally let him in as an ambulance driver, but in places like the Battle of Okinawa, job descriptions swiftly evaporate. He gave my Uncle Don some japanese curency he had acquired, while in the South Pacific. His nephew Don Thorne & niece Geraldine Thorne-Holbrook, remember their Uncle Bernard warmly. He was evidently, a very patriotic American, which would be in keeping with his Knight/Hollinshead family background. The Willis Family was newly American but Bernard's Granfather Benjamin H. Willis freely signed away his rights, as a British subject to become an American Citizen in Whiteside County, Illinois in 1868.

I remember my Dad Voyle talking about his Uncle Bernard. He must have been a loving warm guy, to have left all those warm & good feelings behind. - P. V. Thorne.157

He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Morrison, Whiteside County, Illinois. He was a past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He relocated with his wife to Washington State in 1943. He he taught for 19 years in Washington State including two years in Odessa High School and 17 years in Miller Junior High School in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, Washington. He was a teacher circa 1950.180 His Social Security Number was 349-14-7357 issued in Illinois before 1951.181
