Gilbert de Lacy of Weobley probably finally succeeded in establishing his claim to Weobley against Roger of Gloucester, Earl of Hereford, circa 1148.2 He became a Knight Templar before 1160.2 He witnessed a treaty between Henry II and Louis VII in May 1160.2 He was mentioned as in active service in Outremer by William of Tyre in 1163.2
