Rice Children    Children of Thomas Kearney Rice and Minnie Florence Sammons

This photo shows the children of Thomas Kearney Rice of Shiloh (Lisman) and his wife Minnie Florence Sammons, a native of Poole. It was probably taken about 1895, since the baby -- my uncle Otho B. Rice -- was born August 23, 1893. It was taken by a photographer in "Slaughtersville."
Standing in the rear are William Hampton Rice (1878-1954, a Denver businessman and city councilman), Effie Dell Rice (1881-1959), and Thomas Herman Rice (1882-1945, a RR conductor and later hotel manager in Chicago). Seated are Daisy Dean Rice (1884-1950, married Charles Curtis of Hopkinsville), Otho Barbee Rice (1893-1982, a businessman in California), and Guy Whit Rice (1890-1966, last post master of Lisman).

Of the people in this photo, all except Effie Dell Rice have living descendants. Aunt Effie (who hated her name and called herself Helen) married twice (to Horace Rutherford and Charles Williams), but had no children. She worked for many years for the city of Louisville.

Contact Charles Rice for more information about this family.
