This photo of Alsy Catherine Pate Mitchell, 1849-1924, and James W. Mitchell, 1850-1936, was taken at the Mitchell home in Webster Co. KY, date unknown.

Alsy Catherine Pate was the eldest daughter of William Clark Pate, ca. 1822-ca. 1892, and Elizabeth Monroe, ca. 1823-ca. 1872, who lived at Clay, KY. See their 1860 Webster County census listing.

Others in the photo are unidentified.

Alsy married James W. Mitchell 8 March 1871 Webster Co. He was the son of North Carolina natives Joseph B. Mitchell, 1817-1871, and Sarah Barnes, 1818-1889, living in Union Co. KY in the 1860 census, and Webster Co. in the 1870 census. Alsy C. Pate and James W. Mitchell moved to East Prairie MO by 1910; they are buried at Dogwood Cemetery in Mississippi Co. MO.
