John E. Wood (1886-1975) and Vassie Pate (1885-1960) at about the time of their marriage, at Dixon, Webster Co., January 4, 1905. They were the grandparents of Becky Rice. John was the son of John Ellis Wood (1844-1932) and Malinda Susan Allen (1847-1922) who were married Nov. 9, 1863 in Shawneetown, IL and who are both buried at Shady Grove. John Ellis Wood Sr. was a carpenter and farmer; the family lived at Poole, KY.

John E. and Vassie Pate Wood were the parents of 14 children and are buried at Fairmont Cemetery, Henderson, KY.
