William Melloy, the great-grandfather of Marilyn Phegley, was born 14 Feb 1862, to Esther Ellen and Samuel Melloy. (see Joseph Corbett's Perrin's biography).

William Melloy married Annie Maria Headley of Hopkins County KY. He died 24 Dec 1906 in the Sturgis shoot-out over unionizing the mines there, leaving a pregnant wife and five sons. When Annie's "baby" was born, the child turned out to be Marilyn's twin great-uncles Robert and Rupert.
