Karla Franklin sent this photo she copied from a tin type on which was written "J.W. Franklin and L.F. Price". Karla thinks they look like good ol' boys and I think she's right.

James W. Franklin was the son of Dr. A.W. Franklin and Mary Emmaline Asher. He was born June 19, 1854 and died 1934 at age 62 years. He is buried at the Clay I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Webster County. His biography from Perrin's is online here.

J.W. Franklin married Nancy Emily Mitchell 7 Oct 1874 in Webster County. Their children were: 1) Ollie b. abt 1876 who married Robert H. Nall 18 Feb 1897; click here to see photo of their children; 2) George A., b 5 Apr 1877 who married Della Forrest Kuykendall 24 Sep 1900.

     3) Daniel O., b 1878, married Mabel "Fannie" Maiden? and lived a time in Sarasota, FL, worked as a railroad fireman and retired back to Clay 5 years before his death 2 Aug 1952;
     4) Benny H., b.1888-d.1889;
     5) Essie b.1884, d. 31 Oct 1954 unmarried;
     6) Thomas G., b.1890, buried 29 Nov 1949. He married Ethel Reasoner. T.G. was a mortician in Clay. They had no children.

There may be another child, James M. Franklin, an infant b. & d. 1888; he is buried with the rest of the family at the Clay Cemetery.

After the death of Nancy Mitchell Franklin in 1893, James Franklin married Mary Emma Cobb. They had a daughter Verna, b 1895, who married Wayne Toy and a son Hobard, b 1897, who was in the funeral home business in both Marion and Clay. Click here to see Hobard Franklin's photo.
