James Clarence Floyd was the son of Mack McKinley Floyd, 1898-1958, and Mary Alliene Bridwell, 1905-1996.

He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, Co E 188 Para Glider Inf - 11th Air Borne Division, at Luzon in the Philippines. He was hit in the right foot and left leg by machine gun fire as he was diving into a fox hole and was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and the APO Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars.

J. C. Floyd married Beverly Joyce Crane 5 Nov 1945 in Morganfield, Union Co, KY.

They are the parents of Marian Floyd Dunn.
